This policy explains what data BikeStation, our iPhone app, and its website bikestationapp.com collect, what we use it for, who we share it with, and how you can delete it.

Dosgs, SRL builds and operates BikeStation and is the controller of your personal data. The bike shop that serves you uses BikeStation as a tool to do its job: it sees your customer record, your bikes and your work orders, the same way it would see a paper file.
Your name, email address, phone number (for WhatsApp), date of birth, the shop you pick as yours and, if you want, a profile photo. Your password is stored hashed: nobody — not us, not the shop — can read it.
Your national ID number is optional. It exists only so we can invoice you when that becomes necessary. You can leave it blank and use everything exactly the same.
The brand, model, type and serial number of every bike you register, its photos, its mileage and the state of its chain. And everything about the service itself: your appointments, work orders, quotes, the photos the mechanic takes of your bike, and the delivery report.
We read your activities to keep track of your mileage and calculate component wear: the date, the activity type, the distance, and the gear you have assigned in Strava. Nothing else. We never post anything to your Strava, and we do not read private activities unless you granted us that permission. You can disconnect it at any time, from the app or from Strava.
If you come in for a fitting, the fitter records your body measurements — height, weight, inseam, torso, arm, femur, shoe size, hip and shoulder width, and the angles of your riding position — along with the resulting bike setup, and generates a PDF report. This data is seen by the shop's Retül staff and by you. It is not used for anything else.
We store an identifier for your phone or browser so we can send you alerts ("your bike is ready", "you have a quote waiting"). It is deleted when you sign out, and you can turn notifications off whenever you want.
To improve BikeStation we record what you do inside the app: when you open it and for how long, which screens you visit and for how long, which buttons you tap, the steps of each task (for example, booking an appointment), the alerts and errors you see, and how long things take to load. It is linked to your account and only the BikeStation team sees it, to understand what works, what confuses people and what needs fixing.
We do not record what you type (notes, messages, the details you fill in), passwords, your location or your photos. It is not used for advertising and it is not shared with anyone.
We count visits to the website to know when people come, how they get here (for example, from Instagram, Google or a store's QR code), what kind of device they use and their approximate city. The city comes from the connection, not from GPS. We do not store your IP address, we do not use cookies to track you and we do not know who you are: each visitor gets a code that changes every day. Only the BikeStation team sees it, and it is deleted automatically after 12 months.
Your points, your club tier and — where applicable — your S-Works member number. And the date on which you accepted these terms, so we know which version you agreed to.
With the shop that serves you. That is the point of the service: the mechanic needs to see your bike, your history and your appointment.
With the providers that keep the system running, and only for that purpose:
We may also disclose data where a competent authority requires it by law.
If the shop contacts you over WhatsApp, that message is sent from the personal phone of the person helping you and is governed by WhatsApp's own terms.
Google's and Netlify's servers are located outside Costa Rica, primarily in the United States. By using BikeStation, your data is processed and stored there. We choose providers with recognized industry security practices.
For as long as you have an active account. Your service history is kept because it is your bikes' memory: knowing when a chain was last replaced is what keeps the next one from snapping.
If you delete your account, everything goes — with one exception: invoices already issued to you. Those are tax documents with a mandatory 5-year retention period. What we do is strip your name, email and phone number from them: the amount and the date remain, with nothing identifying you.
The record of how you use the app: the detail is deleted automatically after 12 months; the monthly totals are kept for as long as you have an account.
Website visits are deleted automatically after 12 months.
Open the app and go to Profile → Delete my account.
It happens immediately and cannot be undone. You do not need to email anyone.
Deleted: your profile, your bikes and their photos, your appointments, your quotes, your work orders, your notifications, your Retül measurements and their PDF report, your points, your device registration for notifications, the record of how you used the app, and your login account. We also ask Strava to revoke the permission you had granted us.
Kept: only the anonymized invoices described above.
Under Costa Rica's Law No. 8968 on the Protection of Individuals with Regard to the Processing of their Personal Data, you have the right to know what data we hold about you, to correct it if it is wrong, to ask us to delete it, and to withdraw your consent.
You can view and correct almost everything from inside the app, and delete your account there as well. For anything else, write to soporte@bikestationapp.com and we will respond within the timeframes set by law.
If you believe we did not handle your request properly, you may contact PRODHAB, Costa Rica's data protection authority.
Passwords are stored hashed and never in plain text. Connections are encrypted. Access is separated by role: a mechanic sees what they need to work on your bike and does not see, for example, the body measurements of other customers. No measure is infallible, but we treat your data with the care we would want for our own.
BikeStation is intended for adults. If the rider is a minor, the account must be created and managed by their parent or legal guardian, who is the one accepting this policy.
If we change anything material, we update the date above and notify you inside the app before the change affects you.
